Attendance “Every School Day Matters”

Every_School_Day_Matters_junior.jpgEvery_School_Day_Matters_senior.jpg

Regular attendance at school is essential for students to achieve quality life outcomes. Every day a student does not attend school can have a negative impact on their learning. Schools, in partnership with parents, carers or guardians, are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students.

Student absences are required to be explained.  Please help us by explaining when your child is absent from school.  Schools must follow up unexplained absences.  Our Administration will call to ask for explanation and absent alert letters may be sent.

Under the Education Act 2016, students must only be excused from daily attendance when the absence satisfies a limited set of circumstances, with the Ministerial Instruction no longer allowing a student to be excused for any reasonable cause approved by the principal.  Any circumstance for absence not listed is to be recorded as an 'unauthorised absence'.

Please contact the school if you require support to help your child improve their school attendance.
